A little over a year ago I learned of CIRS and felt like I finally had some answers to all the health challenges I was experiencing for decades that no one could help me with... I just finished the CIRS protocol and I feel amazing. I find myself no longer needing to figure things out because I’m now a healthy human being and WOW does that feel amazing!
If you have mold sickness you may experience:
Debilitating fatigue
Unusual body pains
Your body reacts to anything and everything
Headaches, sinus problems, tremors
Memory issues, brain fog
You may even suffer from:
IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)
CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome)
Fibromyalgia
Multiple Chemical Sensitivities
Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS)
When most people are in a moldy environment they react, but their symptoms of mold sickness clear up when they are no longer around mold. However, about 25% of the population have the genes to develop a chronic immune response called CIRS (Chronic Immune Response Syndrome) when they are exposed to mold.
When these people are in a moldy environment their body can’t get rid of the mold. Ever. Their immune system does not turn off and they develop serious, seemingly unrelated symptoms like IBS, chronic fatigue and Fibromyalgia.
If you are suffering from unexplained symptoms and have no idea what to do, you’re in the right place. We have Canada's only Certified Shoemaker Protocol practitioners.
We can work with local and long distance patients.
Mark intro
Canada's only Certified Shoemaker Protocol practitioners
Flourish Clinic's Mark Volmer, FMP, R.Ac. and Jane Prescot, FMCHC are the only two Certified Shoemaker Protocol practitioners in Canada.
Why is that so important?
The Shoemaker Protocol is the only scientifically proven, peer reviewed method to cure mold sickness, or CIRS (Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome). It is the only proven treatment for CIRS.
Through the Shoemaker Protocol, Mark and Jane help patients who suffer from mold illness and CIRS get their life back.
The Shoemaker Protocol was created by Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker, MD. He has also led the fight for CIRS to be a recognized medical condition. CIRS treatment is known as the Shoemaker Protocol.
Our CIRS certifications
Our cirs doctor Mark Volmer, FMP, R.Ac. did his initial CIRS training with Dr. Shoemaker and Dr. Heyman through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M). He then continued his education with one on one training with Dr. Shoemaker, and has passed the highest certification. He is now a Certified Shoemaker Protocol Practitioner.
Jane Prescot, FMCHC is a CIRS Proficiency Partner Diplomate and a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach. Jane completed her training through the Surviving Mold website, also training with Dr. Shoemaker.
Both Mark and Jane are listed on the Surviving Mold website, and consult regularly with Dr. Shoemaker. They are certified to guide you through each step of the Shoemaker Protocol so that you can regain your health. The Shoemaker Protocol is the best mold illness treatment in Alberta. We are able to work with patients locally and long distance.
Our practitioners will work closely with you through the 12 steps of the Shoemaker Protocol. Mold sickness is confusing and can take more than a year to cure. However, the Shoemaker Protocol is the only scientifically proven method to cure cirs or mold sickness.
Mark V is an incredible human and an outstanding CIRS practitioner. Flourish Clinic has the smoothest operations of any medical practice I’ve ever interacted with. ~ Anthony

The Possible Causes of Mold Illness
Water Damaged Buildings
The main source of toxic mold exposure comes from water-damaged buildings. And they’re far more common than you may think. In fact, up to 50% of all building structures have water damage resulting in mold growth! You could be living in a moldy home and not even know it. The good news is that for most people the mold illness goes away once the mold is gone.
Mold Illness and Chronic Inflammation
Unfortunately, it’s not that easy for about 25% of the population. Their bodies can’t expel the toxins, even when the source of the mold is gone. This is because they have a gene that causes chronic inflammatory response syndrome, or CIRS. If you have this gene, your immune system is unable to expel the mold toxins (mycotoxins). Therefore, if the toxins never leave your body, your immune system creates inflammation. Unfortunately, this inflammation becomes chronic. This exposure to mold can cause symptoms similar to IBS, CFS, Fibromyalgia and multiple chemical sensitivities. If this sounds like you, it’s time to work with us directly.

CIRS Rescue is based on a group format. You will be placed in a small cohort. After completing a Visual Contrast Sensitivity test, all members of the cohort will be sent one Envirobiomics Tri-Test, a MARCoNS nasal swab and a jar of binders.
Every month that you are in CIRS Rescue you will have the opportunity to connect with our practitioner during a 90 minute virtual group session. You will also receive one jar of the Flourish binder, a bottle of MARCoNS nasal spray and a VCS test to track your progress on a monthly basis. If you are not able to continue, you can end your monthly payment at any time. You will no longer receive products or be able to attend group sessions.
Just like with the CIRS Treatment Program we are only interested in working with patients who understand their commitment is key to their recovery. CIRS Rescue is not a quick fix.
Yes! CIRS Rescue will be completely virtual.
If you want to fully treat CIRS we highly recommend you enrol in our CIRS Treatment Program.
However, if you have successfully completed steps one, two and three through CIRS Rescue it will likely take less than a year for you to complete the full protocol. One of our certified Shoemaker Protocol practitioners will be able to advise you in more detail.
We cannot make any guarantees that CIRS Rescue will work for everyone. CIRS is a complex illness that is best treated under the care of a certified Shoemaker Protocol practitioner. If you are not able to tolerate the binder and/or need more guidance than CIRS Rescue provides, we will recommend you enrol in our CIRS Treatment Program.
CIRS Rescue is designed to be a lower cost treatment option to the CIRS Treatment Program. It will not work for everyone.
If you have a health spending account, you will be able to put it through your insurance. Insurance companies will not allow you to put this through extended healthcare benefits for acupuncture/massage/chiropractic etc.
You can't pause CIRS Rescue and rejoin. However, you can end your payments at any time. If you would like to rejoin you will have to start over with a new cohort.
What's my first step?
Your first step is scheduling a complimentary 20 minute phone chat with Sheena. This will allow her to learn about your health goals, and let you ask any questions you may have to ensure Flourish is a good fit.
If you're ready to proceed, we will enrol you in the next cohort.
